ShareThis IE6 Bug

Hi. When using ShareThis w/ IE6, I encounter a bug that crashes the page. The bug isn't too well documented but if you google "IE6 80004004 Bug" you can see other people's experiences with it. When javascript tries to reformat a page before its done loading, this bug appears. Then, the page disappears.

In my situation, ShareThis works fine in IE6, unless there's also a YouTube video embedded on the same page. When that happens I get the error.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

I'd be happy to provide more details to ShareThis's developers.

  2. We are aware of both of these bugs. The error you're seeing on YouTube most likely results in the video displaying over the ShareThis widget. We currently working a solution for this, and should have this fixed shortly.

Thank you for the valuable feedback.

I am trying to add ShareThis to each of the blogs on my front page. I want the URL to be for each blog, not my main front page URL. So I put the ShareThis include script in my document HEAD, and used the API addEntry() method at each blog post. But I am getting the IE6 crash.

I am including the HaloScan javascript in my page also. If I remove the HaloScan, the error goes away. If I keep the HaloScan, but move the ShareThis script out of HEAD into the BODY, then the error goes away, but then a ShareThis icon shows up where I do not want it to.

If I don't use the API, and put a ShareThis button at each blog post that forwards the main URL, that works fine.

I had the same problem. Try hiding it inside an invisible DIV, like this:

    <div style="display:none"><script SHARETHIS-script-link-here></script></div>
