Share this is killing my website. It's making it slow PLEASE help.

We did some performance testing with the FireFox add-on, Firebug, found at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843
We then timed the total site load time to be around 30s with ShareThis enabled. We then disabled the ShareThis calls, by forcing the calls to our server to point locally. With the removal of ShareThis, the site load time ended up to be be around 28.5 seconds (1.5s difference).
We'll be more than happy to help troubleshoot this issue, if you still think ShareThis might be causing it. We would, however, like to know your testing procedures, to better understand ourselves as to why the issue may be on our side.
We'll do everything we can to help.

I use fasterfox and it takes the same amount for the page to load for me.
The thing I see is on the "down right side on the corner of the firefox window" where it says what is currently loading, it usually takes long for the "w.sharethis.com" or something like that to load.Posted 6 months ago # -
I get the same exact issue. It is intermitant!! Bt when my site hangs including goign to the administration panel in wordppress i see that the site is waiting to load share thins in the toolbar botttom left. If i disable sahre this the problem goes!!!

My website is www.mountainfit.co.uk
I am also getting the exact problem as mentioned above. If I have activated the Share this plugin then the page load stalls for quite some time while "Connecting to w.sharethis.com"
When I go into admin and deactivate the plugin the site loads super quick.
What I cannot understand is on my Macbook using Firefox this issue is not evident. I use my laptop to design my site, use ftp, store all my web files etc. However using Firefox on my partners PowerPC G4 the problem is apparent. Also my brother using a PC and Firefox same problem. When he used Linux's Conqueror browser it loaded quickly.
Any ideas? I dig the Share this plugin and really want to use it on my site as I build it however it takes a monumental time to load.
Please help if possible.

I can also verify the ShareThis widget is causing our websites to intermittently stall. I just started noticing it this morning. Before today, everything was fine. Obviously there exists a latency problem somewhere... either with the ShareThis server itself... or a gateway in between our server and the ShareThis server.
Can someone from your support team let us know if your servers are experiencing any problems.. and if so, when they might be remedied.

Yep, I'm having the same problem. That's actually what brought me back here in the first place, to see if it was being fixed, and if not grab a copy of the Classic plug-in so I can cut my site's dependence on ShareThis servers...
In RE: to Support, yeah it's intermittent. I've noticed much the same level of intermittent reliability out of the ShareThis site as well. Here's a good test (that I HAVE performed): ShareThis the old version = my site loads quick as a bunny, ShareThis the current dependent version = my site loads like crap 40% of the time with the stall waiting on w.sharethis.com. I hate to break it to you, but you need either more bandwidth, a bigger server(s), or a better host to handle the overwhelming popularity of your product. ;)

Make your members happy and NEVER use ShareThis. We have removed Share This from our network of 14 sites. FWIW, this is the end of us using ShareThis as they have totally pissed off our readers. We've gone back to our own simple include of links.
How about a status report ShareThis? Seriously, you are dropping the ball here BIG TIME!

Due to a large increase in traffic, two of our server nodes have reached maximum capacity. As a result of this, some of our publishers may have experienced substantially slower load times, but we’ve reacted as quickly as possible to get this resolved. We’ve dramatically increased the number of nodes added to our service.
This issue has now been resolved.

I just disabled ShareThis on my blog as well. This issue definitely not resolved, and I doubt I'll be using ShareThis again anytime soon.
I've had to add ShareThis to AdBlock just so I wouldn't have to wait for it to load on all the sites it's on.

Hi guys,
Since a few days we experience the same problems with ShareThis. Sometimes our site stalls when loading the ShareThis javascript for 7-8secs. ( www.tripsailor.com ). Is there some kind of timeout we can set to stop loading Sharethis after some time? Since this does only happen sometimes it would perfectly work to set the timeout to approx. 1sec.

Same problem with me (The Pequod) - around a 10 second load on a 1mb/second broadband connection. Is there not some way to ensure that Sharethis loads after other elements on the page (e.g. the main text)?
