I have the ShareThis js in my <head>. I added a custom button script where I want the button to show up. This seems to work fine in Firefox and IE, but has issues in Safari and Chrome.
In both Safari and Chrome I am getting my custom button fine, but I am also getting a non-custom ShareThis button at the top of the page. Why is this showing up? Is it something in those browsers that doesn't allow for custom buttons?

Our custom button functionality does not have any known cross browser issues. I will be happy to troubleshoot your installation if you could provide me a link to your site.
The share button is below the big blank space (video player normally is there). For testing purposes I have been using Firefox and Chrome. Works in Firefox, but the duplicate button shows up at the top in Chrome.
I also tested in IE and Safari. IE works, Safari doesn't.
Very strange.
Try adding &button=false to the end of the widget query string in the <head>
