I've noticed much the same level of intermittent reliability out of the ShareThis site as well. Here's a good test (that I HAVE performed): ShareThis the old version = my site loads quick as a bunny, ShareThis the current dependent version = my site loads like crap 40% of the time with the stall waiting on w.sharethis.com.
