I integrated the ShareThis widget (and later converted to the API) using the "jumi" module for Joomla.

At first I placed it in my template found it to much clutter when repeated on the pages, so I placed it prominently as a module on the top of my left panel

Procedure: If you don't already have it, get Jumi from the Joomla Components page. Then make a file with only the widget code. Save it as a text file like "share.txt" and ftp the file to your Joomla root folder.

Then make a jumi module and put the file name in the input box and publish.

More advanced if you know any php... create a "share.php" file and use that instead of the *.txt file. This way you can have the page title show up in the emails as well AND have your own choice of logo instead of the thumbnail of your home page.

Version 1.1.1 and later of the ShareThis plugin eliminate this problem.

The problem is that ShareThis will not appear on a page containing a linefeed character, Hex 0A.
Many of us who write without a WYSIWYG editor, type a return (thus generating a linefeed) in the Article Edit box to assist in formatting the text for our eyeballs. If you use the current version of the Sharethis plugin, you can't do that.
Sure, a WYSIWYG editor will protect you from that, but not always even in WYSIWYG.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to make the ShareThis Plugin ignore linefeeds?

The button does not show up anywhere.
In Joomla 1.5.3, ShareThis is installed and enabled.
{sharethis} is embedded correctly in Articles.
I've followed all the activation instructions, gotten an account, entered a Publisher ID.
When I "View source" on the page, the javascript is there.
I tested the URL to the icon and the icon is painted correctly in the browser.
I can't think of anything else to do. Is there some trick? Some switch?
It simply does not appear in Articles.
