<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I have joined ShareThis today, and very much like the service, just one problem I need a little help with!&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;When I copy the Javascript code and paste it into posts on my forum it doesn't work!! I have used AddThis before and there script is fine, but I feel Sharethis offers more and would like to use this. My forum is &#60;a href=&#34;http://dvdbargains.forumotion.net&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://dvdbargains.forumotion.net&#60;/a&#62; , anyone any ideas why the links won't work?? The link shows as a hyperlink but the &#38;lt;script;javascript etc just stays black.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Amplicon,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I am guessing that you are seeing a slowdown because you are in a different geographical location (UK -&#38;gt; Seattle). We plan on implementing a global CDN solution soon, so you should see an improvement when that happens, but till then I was wondering if you can send me a url where I can look at your implementation I am sure that I can suggest a solution that solves the issue you are seeing)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thanks,&#60;br /&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;We have just found the same problem.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Everything was fine until we got the news of the new and 'faster' loading code. But on our IE browsers (both 6 &#38;#38; 7) it seems to create a 2-5 sec delay which makes the page freeze and clicking on links does not work until the share this code has loaded.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi there&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks for replying. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;To answer your question:  an example of the problem showing its face is the 'videos' page - the comments box on the right briefly becomes visible when first loading the page.  With Sharethis removed this doesn't happen.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I think the additional javascript is just slowing down the loading of each page enough that a flaw with hiding DIVs (either an inate one or one in the way we've structured our code) is showing itself.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Does that make sense?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Cheers - Jon

&#60;p&#62;I looked around the site and could not find anything that I think would make the ShareThis button slow down the site. Is there a reason you believe that the ShareThis button is the cause of the problem?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thanks for using ShareThis,&#60;br /&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi there&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;We're using quite a lot of different CSS's on a site we're building, c/w the usual javascript to hide/show certain divs.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Working version of the site is here...  &#60;a href=&#34;http://tinyurl.com/5f4q3m&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://tinyurl.com/5f4q3m&#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Adding the sharethis icon is slowing page-loading down sufficiently that divs which should be hidden on load are briefly visible (e.g. if you click on the 'videos' link you will see the comments div which is usually hidden by default load briefly).&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Can anyone suggest a way round this?  I'm thinking it may be a fundemental issue with the way our javascript is structured - it's not our forte.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Gratefully,&#60;/p&#62;

&#60;p&#62;I can get it to throw the error on first load or when I clear the cache- though some users complain it happens every time. You should see the error thrown to firebug, and the window will not open fully if you can reproduce it.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Why do you need to use jquery just to swap over tabs? that seems like some serious overkill- besides, the mootools you had been/are using could do that no problem.&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;I'm encountering the same problem with firefox. At first I thought it was due to my dev set up, but the script (almost) works fine on IE, so it's not a server issue.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;However disabling firebug solved the problem, so you might want to do that if you have it installed on your browser.&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;I'm getting a new error recently with my share this button. It has been working fine for months, but now I get:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;$(&#34;#container-2&#34;).tabs is not a function &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;When the iframe tries to open in ff3 (windows, if that matters). The error is on line 16 of lightbox.js.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;lightbox.js seems to be using jquery syntax, is this new? I do see the jquery js chunk included (not as a linked file, which means it wont be cached... :( ). Any ideas?

&#60;p&#62;I'm afraid I'm unable to replicate the issue. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Let the page completely load before clicking the ShareThis button, clicking it prematurely may result in the errors you are experiencing.

<description>&#60;p&#62;OK, I was having a problem where I was passing an article title to the sharethis JavaScript and the presence of single quotes (for example) was breaking the widget.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I discovered that if I added the following script before the sharethis JavaScript and then calling this variable instead of the raw title works.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Now, the system I'm using has an escape function built in, but so does JavaScript, which you can use to escape the title string.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Hope that helps someone.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;script type=&#38;quot;text/javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt;
escaped_title=&#38;quot;{{ entry.title &#124; escape }}&#38;quot;;

&#60;p&#62;You can acquire the widget query string from &#60;a href=&#34;http://sharethis.com/publisher?type=stapi&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://sharethis.com/publisher?type=stapi&#60;/a&#62; from the widget configuration tool. Insert this query string into the &#38;lt;head&#38;gt; of the document you want ShareThis to appear. Then you can use the SHARETHIS.addEntry code into the body wherever you'd like to create a SHARETHIS button. For more information on our API , you can check out &#60;a href=&#34;http://support.sharethis.com/developers&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://support.sharethis.com/developers&#60;/a&#62; .

<description>&#60;p&#62;I'm a design student with an interest in web design and development, so my blog is completely hand-coded to further my understanding of the mechanics behind web pages. I've been looking to syndicate, which drew me to ShareThis. The problem is, I do not understand the Javascript that accompanies the button. I've read all the information on the ShareThis site... but still no go.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I'm wondering what tag displays what information when you share across sites like Facebook and MySpace. What tag displays the title of the post? Which one the thumbnail?&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;xhtml strict does not allow the use of the function &#34;document.write&#34;.  the sharethis javascript uses document.write which is an issue but not a problem.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;the fix is simple. add a new version of document.write to the web pages.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;to find the javascript for creating a new document.write just google &#34;document.write = function&#34;

<description>&#60;p&#62;I am using the slickr plugin on my website (www.electricpig.org) to display photos. I have installed the share this plugin and now the slickr plugin no longer works. I think there may be a javascript conflict or something? I was hoping someone may be able to help me resolve this and still use both plugins. Thanks very much!
